22 February 1900 — 3 Savile Row
Thursday. 22nd [February 1900]. Busy morning writing all the letters for the Committee. Kitty sat working. After lunch as Kate had to stay at home to wait for a friend I went in a cab to Lady FitzGerald’s 36 Lowndes Square where the Vivian girls are now staying. I went on purpose to make Lady FitzGerald’s acquaintance. I had long heard of her from Lady Vivian with whom she was great friends. I found her a compatible kind purring little lady—not over wise. Violet went out walking with me. We went to Marlborough House for me to write my name on the Pss of Wales & then home here & Violet returned to Lowndes Square in a cab. On my return I found a Mrs Pember sitting waiting for me in the drawing room she had come to ask if we could make a depot for warm clothing at Madeira & whether she might collect them—for the home coming troops. I said I would enquire & let her know. At 7 I went to see Addie Bedford for a short time & then home to dinner. Connie & Charlie Eliot & Miss Oswell dined with us & Miss O. typed all my letters for me for Madeira Committee business. Nellie left for the country.
