4 March 1900 — 3 Savile Row
Sunday. 4th [March 1900]. I went to 10 o’cl service in the German Chapel Royal & coming away met Mrs Dugdale & talked to her & promised to go & see her. Came home & sat still. Lady Gregory came to lunch. Going to church I had met Charles Hallé & he asked me to go to the New Gallery with Lady G. to see the collection of Early Flemish pictures & the Rubens which are now on view. The Early pictures are some of them marvellously fine. Sir Francis Cook’s are there & Lord Northbrooks &c &c. There is also a room full of Romney’s Sir Joshuas &c. We spent a very pleasant hour there & C. Hallé & Miss Hallé entertained us. Then Augusta went away & I went home. Had visits from Mr Phipps & Mr Ch: Lawrence. Connie came to dine & I typed a list of pictures for her & we had a very pleasant evening chatting & sewing.
