7 March 1900 — 3 Savile Row
Wednesday. 7th [March 1900]. Violet went out to lunch so did Nellie & I also. I went first shopping & then lunched at Wimborne House with Ivor, Cornelia & Rosie Ridley. Talked over the scheme for sending warm clothes to St Vincent for our troops. Then came home & typed some lists for Connie & sent them to her by post. Tea at 5 to which Violet & Nellie returned. Afterwards I took V. to Lady Hood’s on foot & left her there. Then I took a hansom & called at 17 Cav. Sqr found Blanche in bed suffering from a feverish cold. I promised to return & spend the evening with her. Went on to see Lady Thompson & sat ½ hour with her. She was lying on her couch having her feet massé. I asked her to try & find a German housekeeper for the Empress Frederick– Her lady Css Perponcher wrote to me to ask me to look out for one for Friedrichshof by 1st April. I walked home, dressed, & went to dine in Cav. Sqr having Violet & Nellie together. Home at 10.30. Duncannon & the 2 girls went out to a meeting & I sat with Blanche who was in her armchair in a dressing gown.
