27 March 1900 — 3 Savile Row
Tuesday. 27th [March 1900]. My cold still heavy & I did not go out. Monty was all right to day & resumed his old life. At 5 there was a Madeira Committee meeting at wh was present the Dss of St Albans, the brothers Hyslop, Mr Cazenove & Dr Bond & Lady G. Cecil. We got through a lot of business. There was a telegram from the Cape “Ask Lady Layard to bring her whole establishment down to Capetown as soon as possible.” This was surprising & we decided to enquire into the matter. Dined alone.
