22 April 1900 — 3 Savile Row
Sunday. 22nd [April 1900]. I went to German Chapel Royal English service at 10 oclock & was home by 11. Finished pasting in newspaper cuttings. At 1 I went for a walk with Monty. We went down Piccadilly to Hyde Park Corner into the Park & walked as far through the Park as Stanhope Gate. It was “Church Parade” hour—that is smartly dressed people were walking about to see each other after coming from their morning service & before going home to luncheon. There were very few people we knew. The weather was very fine indeed quite hot. The flowers in the formal beds are lovely with hyacinths & spring flowers. At Stanhope Gate Monty & I parted. I came home in a hansom & he went to his club. Nela & Daisy Du Cane came to see me about 5 & I walked out with them & went to call on Mrs Rate whom I found very low & weak. I sat with her some time & she gave me some flowers. I dined alone. I am very pleased to have walked out with Monty for the first time since I came to live here. It was like old times before I married.
