31 May 1900 — 3 Savile Row
Thursday. 31st [May 1900]. After lunch I went to see Mrs Kay—of Fredley. A solemn visit—many ladies I did not know. Also one old gentleman a Mr Ormerod very pleasant. I got home abt 5.30 & had a visit from Connie. I went to dine with the two old Miss Monks (daughters of the Bishop). Met there Sir Wm & Lady Humphrey, Lord & Lady Eustace Cecil, Mr & Mrs Knowles (He of the 19th Century). Pleasant evening. Talked after dinner with Ld Eustace about Dorsetshire where he lives. Met also the Belgium Minister Baron de Whettnall who says he dined with us once at Madrid. Pleasant & chatty.
