6 June 1900 — 3 Savile Row
Wednesday. 6th [June 1900]. I worked away & finished all the cholera belts I have on hand ready to send out to the Layard Home. At 3 o’cl Mrs Pember called for me & took me in her carriage to Queen Victoria Street to the Civil Service Stores to buy warm under clothing for the Layard Home. After choosing the things we went on to King William Street to Mr Williams’ Agency to tell him to arrange about sending them off on Saturday by the mail. We found him in his office & also arranged that he should send out tobacco & newspapers & then we returned to the W. End by the Embankment & Mrs Pember left me at home at 5. Mr Cazenove called & I handed over to him the £100 from the Red Cross Society wh came last night & agreed to type out a short account of the Home to give to his friends on the Stock Exchange S. I worked on typing till dinner time. This morning Dr Lankester came to see me about Knapp whom he had seen yesterday. He advises her not to leave me but to stay & work, & I told her afterwards what he said & she seems very disappointed. I think her brain is affected. Dr L. says she is only hysterical. Nous verrons.
