14 June 1900 — Wimbledon
Thursday. 14th [June 1900]. We all walked down to Wimbledon Station in the morng at 11 & I returned home by lunch time. Sat in all the afternoon working & writing. Nela came very downcast—the man who had been paying her attention is engaged to be married to another girl. I am very sorry for her. He little knows how he has quenched the sunlight from her life. She is so good she deserves a better fate. At 7 I walked to Cav. Sqr—paid Blanche a short visit. Nellie & I dined at home.
