21 July 1900 — 3 Savile Row
Saturday. 21st [July 1900]. Monty went off to Cowes– Nellie went to Peterborough & I came to the Rates at Milton Court– Nela DC. came to lunch with me & afterwards accompanied me to the station & I left Victoria at 4 P.M. A very hot journey. Found Mr & Mrs Rate alone with only many small grandchildren. They were sitting in the garden at tea when I arrived. Mr Trevelyan son of Sir George & his Dutch bride were calling. He is a poet & seems clever.
