5 October 1900 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 5th [October 1900]. Mr Christie came to talk over Institute & church affairs– I typed & sent a letter to the Bishop of Gibraltar on the subject– The girls all but Daisy went to Lido in afternoon. After tea Virginia & I went out to the Piazza. They all went out in gondola after dinner to enjoy the splendid moonlit night. Countess Brazza came & sat with me till 11– She is interesting & full of ideas. She told us her experiences in Telepathy—how she could tell the contents of a letter she had not read—by merely holding it in her hand– How she when a girl at school had woke one night & heard a voice saying “I am so cold cover my feet”—& thinking it was her school fellow sleeping in the same room, had got up & covered her with blankets—the next post from America brought her news that a favorite little cousin had died at that very hour saying those very words–
