7 October 1900 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 7th [October 1900]. Still glorious weather. We all went to morning service at 10.30. The girls went afterwards to the Academy. I took Iduna home from church– After lunch the Du Canes went to Lido to have tea with the Montalbas in their hut. I fetched Countess Corah Brazzà & took her to make Fanny Browning’s acquaintance. They had both at different times been at Miss Sewell’s school in England wh was a great bond of union between them. At 4 we left her & went to Pal. Tiepoletto to see Mme de Blumer & have tea with her. The little old lady was lying on the sofa dressed in white with a flowing white veil from her head—& she looked more frail than ever. She introduced to me an English lady widow of a Count Rubini who has come to settle in Venice. Iduna joined us—& Mr & Mrs Curtis. On leaving there Iduna & I went to see old Mlle Aspasie who lives close to me now. Met there Mr Cozzi & a friend (Sr Topo). Took Iduna home & came home tired out. Had a letter fm Count Seckendorff saying the Empress is not so well & has been in bed these ten days—& all their plans are suspended for the moment–
