30 October 1900 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 30th October [1900]. I had a long morning’s rest in bed. I sorely needed it after so much entertaining. Aline Lambton arrived to stay with me by 6.45 train & Eda went to the station to meet her. She has been travelling with Lady Dounshire & her sister Miss Balfour—these latter have gone to an hotel & Aline is come to me. She is still terribly delicate & a sweet little thing. I took Eda to the station after dinner & saw her off to London by 11.20 P.M. train. She is to go via Ostend & reach London on Thursday at 11 A.M. Lady Poynter dined out with Sir Philip Burne Jones.
