31 October 1900 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 31st [October 1900]. Lady Dounshire & Miss Balfour called in the morning– Seem very nice friendly people– Sir P. B. Jones came to lunch & brought his sketches to show us– Some are very pretty. Aline went out with her cousins. Aggie Poynter & I went to the Lido for a quiet row. Met the Montalbas leaving their hut– We sat by the shore talking– It was a heavenly day, so still the water was quietly lapping on the shore in tiny baby waves. Returned for tea & Lady Dounshire & Miss B. & Aline were here– Sir Philip came & dined with us & took leave as he departs tomorrow.
