6 November 1900 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 6th [November 1900]. This morning’s letter from Nela says that on Saturday Maria had become worse—was wandering hardly knew people & was to be kept perfectly quiet & the girls are kept away from her– Still the letter to which Sunday’s telegram refers has not arrived & I must wait till tomorrow for it. Went out walking with Lady P. in the morning. After lunch we went out in gondola to some old furniture shops & to the Piazza coming home to tea at 5. Mme de Bompard, wife of a French artist came to call—also Mrs Eden—later the Belmondos– After dinner I took Aline out in gondola in the moonlight. We fetched Lady Dounshire & Miss B. from the Lena & took them with us.
