6 December 1900 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 6th [December 1900]. Had a visit from Herr Stobwasser, who brought me a letter from Baroness von Bulow (Mme Minghetti’s daughter). He has come to buy furniture for the German Govt to arrange the house in which the Chancellor lives. He is an intelligent young man speaking French well & English fairly. I showed him this house and gave him a list of shops here. After lunch Gertie & I went to the Piazza. No one came to tea so she & I had a quiet time together. Quite late Maria Cozzi came & sat for ½ hour talking.
