11 January 1901 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Friday. 11th [January 1901]. Finished packing & left by 2.50 train for Rome with my maid Baker. Thro’ my stupidity I went an hour too early to the station. Happily Mr Montalba came there & sat talking to me which helped to pass the time. I had a compartment to myself all the journey—having to change carriages at Bologna. | |
