13 January 1901 — Rome | |
Sunday. 13th January [1901]. Resumed the chase after apartment with help of the agent at 10—so gave up devotions. At last saw one at 56 Via Babiuno which seemed likely & arranged to return later to decide. Went to lunch with the Curtis at 1 & directly after took Mrs Curtis to see the Babiuno rooms & as she approved I settled to take them. There is the usual hideous flame colour furniture in the sitting room, but I have no doubt I shall improve the look of it. Telegraphed to my servants at Venice to come off here tomorrow. Went to call on Mme Hurtado & had tea with her & Idita. Met Princess Arduino Buoncompagni there—lovely & charming as ever & pleased to see me. Back to hotel for dinner. | |
