17 January 1901 — Rome | |
Thursday. 17th [January 1901]. Modelled all morning. Directly after lunch I went to fetch Mrs Curtis & took her to the Conference at the Collegio Romano in honor of Q. Margherita. Dull & fulsome. Coming out saw Marchesa Villamarina & inquired of her how the Queen was. She said she was as well as could be expected & added she Villamarina hoped to see me, so I must call. The proceedings at the conference was a single speech by Sr Oliva—monstrous & ranting. Had tea with Mrs Curtis & then called at Hotel Europa on Css Canevaro who was out—then home. Wrote letters. Dined 7.30. Patience. | |
