20 May 1901 — 3 Savile Row
Monday. 20th May [1901]. I went off at 11 to Onslow Place to see Connie. Glad to find Charlie suffering less—but still the case is hopeless. Connie knows it but still keeps up well & is calm. I did not remain long as she expected Princess Christian to see her & Lady Agneta Montagu who was calling to enquire brought me home by my lunch in her cab. After lunch I walked round to Wimborne House to see Ivor & Cornelia but did not remain long as they were just going out so returned home & wrote letters. Nela Du Cane came to see me & told me her mother is no better—& will never be so– Truly it is sad to grow old—& to see death coming upon us one by one. Nellie who is working hard in her business as dressmaker was in to meals– Monty is at home—well & in good humour & very pleasant to me.
