14 June 1901 — 3 Savile Row
Friday. 14th [June 1901]. Nellie better & up after lunch. Alice Murray came to see me in the morning; gives a sad account of her mother. The paralysis slowly gaining on the brain & the least emotion makes her delirious. I drove out after lunch & went to see Connie whom I found very sad & daily more & more realizing her loss as indeed she must. Home at 5. Mr Griscom, Arthur’s (EG) American friend came to tea—a very nice elderly man, devoted to my brothers & altogether friendly—& fond of Nellie. Eliza Holman White came also young Mr Villari—the son of the Profr who is doing literary work here.
