19 June 1901 — 3 Savile Row
Wednesday. 19th [June 1901]. Mr Griscom (USA) dined with us on Monday. He was a great friend of my brother Arthur’s & is at the head of the American line of steamers wh ply between Southampton & New York. He pressed me & Nellie to go over to America to pay him a visit & offered to give us free passages &c. It is very tempting. He is an enormously rich man & has come over with other American delegates on business especially with Mr Pierpont Morgan the millionaire. Raymond Layard & his wife Isabel came to luncheon– They are home on leave from Japan—I was glad to see them. Old Mr Bishop came to dinner to talk over the affairs of Venezia-Murano Co.
