8 July 1901 — 3 Savile Row
Monday. 8th [July 1901]. I walked out in the morning & called on Ivor to talk to him about Arthur’s debts. I told him how I had settled to small bills and suggested that the larger ones should be paid at any rate a percentage on them if he, Monty & Merthyr would subscribe. He asked me how much would be required if 50% were paid & hearing it was about £500 he sat down at once & gave me a cheque for that sum so that I came home quite elated & delighted with his generosity. I saw Monty on my return & as he was just leaving town he asked me to wait & speak to him on his return next week. After lunch I drove out & went to see Connie. Sat with her out in the garden for an hour. Home to tea. There was a rehearsal for the Pastoral Play in my dining room.
