14 August 1901 — 3 Savile Row
Wednesday. 14th August [1901]. Drove to Beaufort Gardens with Nellie & paid C.A. a visit. Tho’ still in bed he seemed quite well & was very anxious to get up. On the way home we called on Lady Poynter at 28 Albert Gate & found her there. Then home—Mollie, Mr Val Fildes & Louis Du Cane dined with us. Monty arrived from Cowes to spend a night. Had a talk with him and told him all about the settling of Arthur’s debts & all Ivor had done—& how generous he had been. Louis Du Cane promises to come tomorrow to meet my builder & to settle what damages we shall ask from the telephone Co whose men have so climbed about this roof that the gutter got choked and the rain got in one stormy night & deluged our stairs & spoilt the paint. Rained a gt deal.
