20 August 1901 — En route to United States
Tuesday. 20th [August 1901]. I have made great friends with young Aubrey who is a nice gentle lad– We sit much on deck together. He tells me he is fond of growing plants & has a greenhouse of his own at his father’s place in the Isle of Wight. Nellie in bed all day with headache– I did not dare go down to lunch as there was a good deal of motion. Aubrey & I had lunch together on deck. Whales were seen spouting in the distance. It was very cold & I had to retreat to my cabin for warmth. Down to dinner & quite calm. Walked on deck. Sat with Nellie who was in bed & Mrs B. with us. Made 490.
