21 September 1901 — Dolobran, Haverford, Pennsylvania
Saturday. 21st [September 1901]. Emilia no better so it was settled she should have a nurse when the Dr came. Nellie in bed all day with headache– We were engaged to go to Philadelphia to lunch with Mrs Griscom but as Mrs G. was also feeling unwell it was agreed to telephone & put it off. Only Juan Riaño kept to the appointment. However all this had only just been settled when Mrs G. said she was better & must go to town so I offered to accompany her & we went by 11 o’cl train with Juan. She took us to look at old fine Persian rugs & then went off to other shopping & rejoined Juan & me abt 12. All the shops were then shutting as it is the hour of the Saty closing here so she & I returned to Dolobran getting there for luncheon.
