6 December 1901 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 6th [December 1901]. I copied Bellini in morning– The gondola being at the squero today I took a walk with Emilia as far as the new sailor’s Institute near the station to see what the Newmans are doing & found them getting on very well—the new place looks very clean & will soon be made comfortable & the Newmans are working well– Emilia was tired & returned home by steamer. I walked home crossing the iron bridge round to the Rialto—a good step– It was nice cold bright weather. Clara & Hilda Montalba came to see us at tea time.
