30 January 1902 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 30th [January 1902]. There was a bora blowing & there was no going out. I had a visit from Signor Malazola the head of the Archives a youngish man & very pleasant & intelligent. He came to ask whether I knew whether this house had ever been an hotel in 18th ceny. I said I believed not. We went on to speak of Byron’s stay in Venice & he offered to help me to buy “[illegible word]” by Mme Albrizzi & other books on Byron. I showed him the bust of Byron (cast) which I have lately bought & he promised to see if it was done from Thorvaldsen’s.
