28 February 1902 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 28th February [1902]. Dr Sacchi came & vaccinated me & the whole household as I am constantly written to not to return to England without being revaccinated as small pox is very prevalent & is the outcome of the relaxation in our laws for vaccination. Directly after lunch I went with my maid to the hospital on my Friday visit to replace Mme Wiel. The poor consumptive man who has been there 2 years seemed worse than even. It poured with rain. On my way home I called in a few moments to see Mme Reinelt & then came in & had a visit from Mr Williamson & from the Austrian Consul Zeller, a well informed rather pedantic dull man– Sr Trombini came to see me & promised to find out about a woman who came yesterday to be for assistance of me.
