15 April 1902 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 15th [April 1902]. We breakfasted all together at 9.30. I was tired & had rather a headache. Desideri came to get the money for some old Spanish leather he has got for me & which I bought for Wimborne– G. Montagu came & worked in my studio– I did nothing much all day. Lunched at 1.30. Count Seckendorff the late Empress’ chamberlain & his cousin Princess Taxis arrived at 2.30 from Milan to stay with me– Herr Passini the painter called to see them directly they arrived & carried them out in his gondola. The Villiers went out & G.M. & I rested in my room. The D. & Dss della Grazia came to dine & we were thus 8 at dinner. I had my usual reception in evening & a great many people came amongst them Bss Reinelt & the Css Morosini Rombo—& we kept it up till past 12– The weather is still lovely & quite hot.
