20 May 1902 — Paris
Tuesday. 20th [May 1902]. Kate & I took a walk shopping. There was a heavy thunderstorm & a good deal of rain off & on. Vere went to see his friend young James Rothschild son of Baron Edmond in Laubourg St Honoré & arranged to stay with him while in Paris. Vere & J.R. fetched us in the afternoon & took us to the Salon. We put Kate into a wheel chair to save her fatigue. At 5 Kate & I went to the Champs Elysée to Baroness James Rothschild where Blanche Lady Lindsey is staying. They were still out driving when we got there, but we went into the house & waited & the butler brought us tea– When the ladies returned the Baroness gave us a hearty welcome & before we left Blanche showed us the valuable library which is full of treasures. We dined at our hotel & had nearly finished dinner when Vere came in saying he would dine with us & he remained until past ten. I moved in room Vere had.
