28 June 1902 — 3 Savile Row
Saturday. 28th [June 1902]. Better but got up late. Kate left at 10 & returned to Peterboro. Eda Alderson came to stay with me & arrived to luncheon. Ruth & Issie Du Cane came to luncheon– Mr Hamilton Aidé came to see me to talk over the Sale I propose having in aid of the Venice International Hospital. He advises me to defer it. After tea I walked with Eda & Nellie to Portman Sqr 3—to call on Lady Maxwell Lyte & to tell her I was going to put off the Sale. She on the other hand was much for it & almost persuaded me to decide on Tuesday 8th. I left her saying I wd consider of it. Called on Verona Brooke in Manchester Sqr & then 17 Cav. Sqr. Blanche accompanied Eda & me to my door. The news of the King was better & better—& he is now said to be “out of immediate danger.”
