16 July 1902 — 3 Savile Row
Wednesday. 16th [July 1902]. Woke with a bad headache & remained in bed till afternoon. As Monty is unwell & had the Dr Mr Burton, I asked him to prescribe also for me—& I got better. I slept in the little dressing room to my bedroom– About 50 more people came today & the result altogether was abt £250—an astonishingly large sum considering that my sale came just after a great Coronation Bazaar for the Ormond’s St Children’s Hospital held at the Botanical Gardens & that it is the end of a season when there have been countless calls on peoples’ purses. I had a sketch by Borneat for wh my brother Ivor gave me £50– I dined this evening with Sir Edward & Lady Poynter & met there Mr & Mrs Val Prinsep, Mr & Mrs Alma Tadema & Mr Landor the traveller a very pleasant little party.
