13 August 1902 — 3 Savile Row
Wednesday. 13th August [1902]. I went to see John Murray about the publication of Henry’s autobiography—which hangs fire. I fear it wont be well done—Sir Arthur Otway is too old & has muddled his part of the work. Pazienza! I left London & went to stay with the Rates at Milton Court Dorking. Poor Mr Rate has had a paralytic stroke & tho’ he is about again still is an invalid & his left arm is helpless. Mrs Rate is better but always delicate. Mr & Mrs Hoare (Ida) were staying there.
