14 August 1902 — Milton Court, nr. Dorking, Surrey
Thursday. 14th [August 1902]. Mlle de Perpigna who is staying in a lodging in the village of Westcott for the summer came over to lunch with the Rates & drove me back with her to her lodging where I had tea with her. We talked over old days with the dear Empress Frederick with whom Georgie de P. was so many years as governess to the Princesses. She was a beautiful woman in those days & always good & faithful and injured her health by the long journey she took from Scotland to Cronberg when the Empress was dying so that she should be with her former pupils.
