17 August 1902 — Hurstcote, Shere, Surrey
Sunday. 17th [August 1902]. Walked to Shere church with Verona in the morning & after lunch we took a long drive to see young Mr & Mrs Stopford Brooke who have a lovely little house in the neighbourhood. Some of our party walked over. We had tea there; our hostess is an American not of the most refined type but very good natured. We found there 2 more Miss Beaumonts & Count Emo. They had only this morning returned from seeing the Great Coronation Naval Review wh took place yesterday at Portsmouth & had not got to bed at all last night.
