13 January 1903 — 3 Savile Row
Tuesday. 13th [January 1903]. Had a long interview with Mr Hamilton upon the Venezia Murano business & cheered him with the news that Mr Prinsep offered to take shares in it. Showed him my Venetian bead chains which I had been making with wh he was very pleased & he offered to buy all I have at 5f a piece so I packed them up & took them to the new Venezia Murano shop in Bond St when I went out driving. Found Mr Hamilton there & he showed me over the new shop. I went on to pay Lady Poynter a visit—found her at home & then got home to 5 o’cl tea. Found old Sir Henry Thompson waiting to see me– He is very pleasant & very young looking for his age—& seemed well. Capt. Wyld also came to tea– It was very cold & began to snow twice today. Nellie & I dined with the Oranmores in a house they have hired 9 Stratford Place & met Lord de Manley & Mr A. Farquhar—an agreeable man much travelled & we discussed Sir Frank Bertie’s appointment as Ambr at Rome—& also all the dip corps whom we both knew personally.
