23 January 1903 — 3 Savile Row
Friday. 23rd [January 1903]. Woke very headachy but got up all the same but did not stir out all day. Monty is in bed with a bad cold & I visited him & found him very amiable & pleasant– Sophy went out in the motor car to try & make arrangements as to her marriage in a Church of E. Church. The R.C.’s will put every obstacle in the way to it but she is determined not to be married unless married in her own religion. Mr de Franqueville arrived from Paris today & he dined with Sophy & me & I retired to my room after dinner & left the fiancés to settle their affairs alone. I had a visit from old Lord & Lady Bessborough who are still hale & hearty & wonderfully young looking.
