27 January 1903 — 3 Savile Row
Tuesday. 27th [January 1903]. Sophy left by 8.30 train & went off to her aunt & is going on to Oxford to break up her house there so as to be married about 16th. The house seems strangely quiet now all the excitement & pourparlers about the marriage is finished. The arrogance to the R.C.s on their points is something phenomenal! Elaine & Mary Alderson came to lunch altho’ they mistook the hour & came of late. Afterwards Nela & Mary drove with me in the car & I went to see Onie & her 14 day old baby. Came home to tea—quiet evening.
