24 March 1903 — 3 Savile Row
Tuesday. 24th [March 1903]. Very busy all day with Connie’s help arranging the room for sale—putting up screens—placing pictures, necklaces &c &c. Verona Brooke came & helped some time. Sold a few things to a Mr & Mrs Anderson who came mistaking the day. Had a visit from Evey Lady Stanhope—a friend of my girlhood—handsome, good & faithful whom I do not often see as our paths lie in different directions. She was same as ever—& it carried me back to happier days to see her. The Duncannons, Irène & Vere, Mrs Burden Muller, Capt. Walsh & Capt. Wyld dined with me & they bought things of my sale. I had a visit in afternoon from Mr Charles Benett about the concert he is getting up for me– I am getting nervous as to it as there is so little time to dispose of the tickets.
