1 October 1903 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 1st October [1903]. The Princess, Connie & I had breakfast together at 9 in the studio & then went out for a walk with Signor Malagola to shop round by the Rialto to the Piazza. Directly after lunch we went in the steam launch lent from the Arsenal to Torcello—the Belmondos besides the Pss, her suite, Connie & I. It was a lovely day & very enjoyable. We took with us our tea & drank it coming home. We were expecting the Greek yacht “Amphitrite” to come in bringing the Crown P. & Pss Sofie of Greece. On our return from Torcello we even went out a good way towards the sea thinking we could see a distant vessel coming wh might be her—but we found we were mistaken & so came home. Dined at 7.30. The “suite” came & we had a quiet evening.
