20 December 1903 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 20th December [1903]. Went to morning service. Cav: Salvadore Arbib & his daughter Bianca came to lunch with us. She is a bright intelligent girl & her father is most anxious that she should shake off a sort of anemia lassitude to wh she is inclined & he begged me & Nela to show her some of our various occupations—bookbinding, modelling, typing—bead threading, printing &c– At 3 o’cl I took them over to the Giudecca & showed them the Cos: Hos: which pleased Sr Arbib so much that he gave me 100 fcs on the spot & promised other help in kind. I took them also to see the Eden’s garden wh they had never seen. Nela & I went to the service at 7.30 at the Sailor’s Institute taking with us Mrs Prinsep & her son Thoby & they returned to supper with us—& left directly after & I went to bed tired.
