5 April 1904 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 5th April [1904]. I had my usual evening reception & a good many people came to it. The Italian society is still in town and this has been an unusually brilliant season– About 20 people came in amongst them Duchess Canevaro who brought some very rich Americans of the name of Einstein. The mother rather handsome with quite white hair wh was dressed pyramid fashion with black velvet ribbon held by diamond brooches across the middle of it. The daughter was tall & handsome– The son was tall & intelligent, has written books on Italian Renaissance &c. The father elderly & common place.
