17 May 1904 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 17th [May 1904]. Mrs Silver’s friend Pss Louise of Liechtenstein came to see her in the morning & I showed her round the pictures & we kept her to lunch with us. She has been a great beauty & one can see it still. Has a lovely figure & is very well dressed. It being Mrs Silver’s first visit to Venice we took her out in gondola & to the Piazza & to tea with Mr & Mrs Curtis at Palazzo Barbaro. Met there Mme Wiel & her 2 sisters Mrs Portman & Mrs Forbes who are to be Eda’s travelling companions to London tomorrow. Sir Edward Poynter & his son Hugh with their cousin Mrs Poynter arrived at 6.45 from England. Lady Poynter was not well eno’ to accompany them to my great regret. Mrs Poynter is an elder sister of the Dss of Somerset & they are very much like each other– This evening was my usual reception.
