19 June 1904 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 19th [June 1904]. Went to morning service. Wrote memoirs & Css Zeilen, an Austrian lady came to tea– She is taking the baths over at the Lido & is in esctasies over the delights of it. I went out to the Eden’s garden afterwards—then returned changed my dress & with Baker went to the service at the Sailor’s Institute & walked home with Mr Harston whose wife is now laid up with pleurisy. A lovely night. I sat till 11 on the Belvedere playing patience—not a mosquito nor a breath of wind.
