15 July 1904 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 15th [July 1904]. Painted nearly the whole morning & again after lunch. At tea had Aspasie Kwekwitsch to call & also old Baroness Ritter– Mr Harston came & we went out together to see the apartment 2nd floor of the Palazzo Labia wh is now to let & which I think would suit Princess Charlotte of S. Meiningen to live in. Thence we went to call on Mr & Mrs Humphery Johnson at the Madonna dell ’Orto– Found them sitting in their garden. They took us into the Casa dei Spiriti wh also belongs to them to show us the fine hall wh was lately divided into rooms & the partitions of wh they have just removed. The house was evidently a pleasure house of some old Venetian family & has a lovely view over the Lagunes. I took Mr Harston back to his house & then home. “Floated” alone in the evening.
