Tuesday. 27th [September 1904]. The D. & Dss Canevaro being here for a day before they start off on their trip to Peru Kate, Cecil & I went to see them. They will take 18 days to get there & will not be back for 6 months. Ersilia was rather low about it. I cheered her all I could. Afterwards we returned to tea & then Eda & I walked to S. Gregorio to see Genl de Horsey & from there took the steamer across to the Giudecca to see Sister Katherine. It was late & raining before we got home. In the evening had my usual reception. The Goschens came & Lady Helen Vincent & she brought a Mr Lister who has just been named our 1st secy in Rome in the place of Sir Rennell Rodd– A pleasant man. Mr Curtis & Mr Sargent also came.
