21 January 1905 — 3 Savile Row
Saturday. 21st [January 1905]. I went by 3.15 train from Paddington to Frome to stay at Maiden Bradley with the D. & Dss of Somerset. They sent a fly to meet me the station being 6 miles off. There was snow on the roads & it was freezing & bad going for horses. Maiden Bradley is only the remains of a far finer house. The 2 wings having been pulled down by a predecessor. The house is now small & rather like a villa with very little garden, the Park is let for grazing & the high road too near for a “place.” There was no party staying there—only a Miss Hilda Paget & her brother Geoffrey a young man in the Guards—children of a Sir Rd Paget a neighbour.
