16 June 1905 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 16th [June 1905]. Signor Cavenaghi came today to see me & offered to varnish any such of my pictures as required it. He strongly also advised putting them all under glass wh I will do by degrees. After lunch I went to the Hos: to hear how matters are going on. Dr Wolner has evidently had a wigging from the Prefect. He has been very conciliatory & polite to Ola thro’ the telephone! I must now get the whole matter cleared up & begged that Dr Tommasini shd come to talk it over with me tomorrow. From there I went to the Eden’s garden to tea & met the Pss of Monaco & her son by a 1st marriage, the Duc de Richelieu & Mlle de Lara her friend. When they had all gone I sat some while talking to Carry. I also went today to call on old Lady Pirbright who is glad to have a gossip & is very pleasant. Blanche Lindsay dined with me—for a sort of farewell meal– She leaves Venice on Monday.
