17 July 1905 — En route to London
Monday. 17th [July 1905]. At Amberieu I got some coffee abt 6. At Dijon a restaurant car was put on the train & I got tea—& before reaching Paris we had luncheon– Got to Paris at 1.30—& remained there abt one hour after wh we went round Paris in the “[illegible word]” to the Gard du Nord & from there started again for Boulogne in the same carriages as we left Venice in. An excellent dinner at 5.30. Had a perfect crossing & reached London ½ hour late at 11.15. Vere Ponsonby met me & brought me to 17 Cavendish Sqr in an electric brougham. Blanche & Edward were sitting up waiting to welcome me—gave me soup & sent me to bed.
