26 August 1905 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset
Saturday. 26th [August 1905]. Freddy kindly gave me hints & notes about our Indian tour. He & his wife motored over to B’mouth & back before lunch & they brought me “From Sea to sea” by Kipling to give me information on the trip to India. After lunch they departed in their motor for London. Corise, Nela & Miss Williams came over before they left—& after tea we set off to accompany them back on foot to the Cottage—were overtaken by storms of rain. The twins Du Cane arrived to stay here & walked with us. Ivor & Cornelia were discouraged by the rain & turned home. We stayed a very short time at the cottage & then Dacre, the twins & I returned to Canford by 7.30. In time to dress for dinner. While walking on the terrace with Ivor he told me he wd give me £258 as a help for the expense of the Indian trip—most generous of him. Music in the eveng. Isabelle played the piano. Ivor sang. He has still rather a good voice.
